Custom silicone mold design service

Design-to-mold service with engineer numbers - MOQ 20

RUUIPON custom silicone mold design services cover DFM, prototype in 3-7 days after CAD approval, vacuum-degassed production tooling, and global ship from Shenzhen. Quote usually within 24 hours on complete files. FDA/LFGB when retail needs it.

What this service is (and is not)

Our custom silicone mold design service ships the cavity tools you cast with - not finished gummies, candles, or soap bars. We are a Shenzhen workshop (since 2018), not a trading desk that forwards RFQs, and not a finished-goods OEM quoting MOQ 300-1000 packed products.

You get Shore A numbers, draft notes, cavity depth in mm, and a prototype you can pour before production quantity. Soft brochure adjectives without those numbers do not survive sticky pectin or hot wax cool-down.

  • DFM and CAD support from sketch, photo, or STEP/STL
  • Prototype in 3-7 business days after CAD approval
  • Production at MOQ 20 per design with vacuum degassing
  • Food-grade FDA/LFGB path when you name the market

01

Design & DFM review

Send a STEP/STL file, PDF drawing, photo, or physical sample. We advise on silicone grade, Shore A hardness, shrinkage compensation, demolding angles, and multi-cavity layout. No 3D file? We model from your sketch.

02

Prototype mold (3-7 business days)

After CAD approval, we produce a working prototype so you can test with your actual resin, chocolate, wax, or soap before production tooling.

03

Production tooling

Approved designs move to multi-cavity RTV silicone tooling with vacuum degassing. Each cavity is checked for bubbles, dimensional accuracy, and surface finish.

04

QC inspection & test cast

Visual inspection, dimensional check, and a test cast in your material before packing.

05

Packaging & global shipping

Protective packaging. Terms: FOB/EXW Shenzhen. DDP delivery available to 50+ countries.

DFM gates we run on every file

Most custom mold delays come from incomplete inputs. We front-load these checks so you do not discover them after tooling is poured.

Parting & demold path

One-part vs two-part decision before master cut - undercuts that look fine in CAD fail after resin or wax hardens.

Shore A band

Number on the quote, not soft/medium/hard. Sticky gummy and deep resin undercuts do not share one hardness.

Shrink ~0.1%

Platinum compensation on the master so cavity volume matches target grams / ml after cure.

Wall & tray span

Soft compounds oil-can on large flats. We raise Shore or split trays instead of shipping a floppy sheet.

Logo / text width

Knife-edge type looks sharp in renders and tears in production - we fillet when imprint life matters.

Vacuum on production pour

Pinholes reprint forever on gloss chocolate and resin logos. Degassing is standard on production tools.

Materials & Shore A hardness

Platinum-cure silicone is our production standard - longer library life and cleaner food-grade options than tin-cure hobby compounds. Shore A is specified as a number on the quote.

ApplicationTypical Shore AWhy
Deep resin / undercut figurines20A-30AFlex for demold without tearing thin casts
Shallow resin trays / coasters30A-40AFlat pour surface; less tray warp
Chocolate logo / bar trays30A-40ACrisp edges; stable temper demold
Gummy / pectin25A-35AFlex for sticky demold; wall thickness matters
Soap (cold process)25A-35AEasy peel from loaf and cavity molds
Candle / wax melt30A-40AHold geometry through cool-down
Ice / large flat molds35A-45AStiffness under freezer flex cycles

Failure modes we design against

Service pages that only list happy path miss why buyers hire a shop.

Sticky demold stretch

Pectin and some resins pull soft walls. Outer cavities on a crowded tray can drift 5-8% in weight. Fix walls, Shore, or split - not spray alone.

Tray oil-canning

Large soft trays twist on temper tables and resin benches. Raise Shore or cut span.

Bubble / fisheye casts

Often mold-compound air, wrong release, or trapped geometry. Prototype with your mix before MOQ 20.

Wax vacuum lock

Tall pillars without draft grab on cool-down. Draft and Shore belong in DFM, not after first scuffed face.

Multi-cavity silicone tray layout for production molds
Cavity count follows tray stiffness and weight variance - not brochure boasts.

Industries & product paths

One service spine - hardness, food grade, and cavity layout change by industry.

Resin & craft brands

Custom coasters, figurines, trays, and logo embeds. Soft Shore A for undercuts; firmer trays for flat pours. Release guidance for epoxy and polyurethane.

What to send for a fast quote

Incomplete RFQs slow everyone down. Send the list below and we typically return a quote within 24 hours - with Shore A recommendation, cavity notes, and lead time.

  1. 3D file (STEP/STL preferred) or clear photos / physical sample
  2. Casting material: resin, chocolate, gummy, soap, wax, etc.
  3. Cavity depth and overall size in mm (or annotated drawing)
  4. Undercuts, logo text, or fine texture notes
  5. Target Shore A - or ask us to recommend
  6. Cavity count preference and daily cast volume if known
  7. Food-grade need: FDA, LFGB, or none
  8. Quantity for first run (MOQ 20+) and reorder outlook
  9. Ship-to country and preferred Incoterms

Prototype, production, reorders & steel handoff

Prototype is not optional theater. Sticky pectin, resin fisheyes, tray warp, and wax lock show up in real casts. You approve the working tool, then we scale to production at MOQ 20+.

  • Prototype: 3-7 business days after CAD approval
  • Production: vacuum-degassed platinum tooling; cavity QC before pack
  • Reorders: tooling exists - change Shore A or geometry as a revision
  • Steel handoff: when daily volume outgrows RTV, we say so - see silicone vs steel cost
  • Warranty: manufacturing defects covered for 6 months; misuse and normal wear beyond expected cycle life are not
Silicone mold vs steel mold cost comparison for service buyers
Soft RTV and steel are different tool classes - service quotes should say which you are buying.

Services FAQ

What is the minimum order quantity?
20 pieces per design (finished mold tools, not 50 casts from one mold). Smaller paid tests are case-by-case - ask on the quote form.
How long does a custom silicone mold take?
Prototype: 3-7 business days after design approval. Production: typically 2-4 weeks depending on volume and grade.
Can I get a sample mold before a large order?
Yes. The prototype stage is your sample - you test cast with your material before we scale to production tooling.
What materials do you use?
Platinum-cure silicone as standard (Shore A 20-50 matched to application). Food-grade FDA/LFGB grades available for food programs. Tin-cure only on request.
How do you choose Shore A hardness?
From your casting material, cavity depth in mm, undercuts, and cycle life. Soft for deep undercuts; firmer for flat trays that must not warp. Confirmed at prototype.
Why is MOQ 20 when other factories want 300-1000?
Many quotes at 300+ are finished silicone consumer goods OEMs. We sell custom mold tooling for brands testing SKUs.
Is vacuum degassing included?
Yes on production platinum tooling. Pinholes reprint on gloss food and resin faces - we do not treat vacuum as an optional checkbox.
Do you work with Etsy / Shopify sellers?
Yes - many clients launch at MOQ 20 before scaling inventory.
What should I send for a quote?
STEP/STL or photos, casting material, cavity depths in mm, food-grade need, and target quantity. Complete files usually get a reply within 24 hours.
What is your warranty?
Manufacturing defects for 6 months. Damage from misuse or normal wear beyond expected cycle life is not covered.
