Custom Flower Silicone Molds for Marshmallow: USA Buyer Case (Shore A 5–10)

Marshmallow flowers tear if the tray is too stiff. Linda (confectionery, USA) sent reference photos of layered petals — no STEP file — and asked for three custom flower silicone molds she could also use for chocolate decoration. She needed the piece to peel without ripping petal veins, food-contact docs for her market, and a written note that the shapes stay hers.

This is that RUUIPON job (Shenzhen since 2018), written from the RFQ chat on this order. It is not a catalog SKU and not a high-volume steel/depositor story. Related if you are not on flowers: silicone molds for marshmallows and custom chocolate molds.

Six-cavity custom flower silicone mold with cream rose and peony-style pieces
The brief was flower molds — petal layers and mixed rose/ruffle cavities on one tray, not a generic candy grid.

What Linda Sent — And What Would Tear

The pour is marshmallow figurines plus chocolate/dessert use. Petal veins and stacked curves need a soft peel. A typical scrape gummy tray in Shore A 30–40 would fight that demold. She asked for platinum food-contact silicone, matte cavities, and a first run of 100 pieces per design x 3 designs (300 molds), shipping to Hallandale Beach, Florida.

On chat she also said she wanted a long-term supplier, not a one-photo Alibaba order: “We are looking for a reliable long-term partner.”

Drawing depositAbout $110 USD per design on this CAD path ($330 for three)

MOQ on the site is still 50 per design. This trial sat above that. Do not treat $4.50/pc or Florida freight as a public price list — they were this quote.

Photos to CAD, Then Sample Shore

No 3D file. We built cavity CAD from her photos and close-ups of petal texture. On this RFQ we told her CAD revisions stay in the design step until she marks the drawing. From the same chat:

  • Buyer: “We can just pay the design cost in advance. After you confirmed the design, we process the next step.”
  • Shop: “Yes, we will modify the 3D design till you are satisfied. It's free.” — that was the revision note on this drawing-deposit path, not a blank check for every future SKU.

We sent sample molds in Shore A 5 and Shore A 10 so she could pour her own marshmallow. Softer helps undercuts; a bit firmer holds a sharper petal edge on repeat pulls. She picks the band after her pour, not from a catalog cell. Drawing-deposit mechanics we already publish: see the cavity drawing before full tooling pay.

This sample path: mold about 90 x 45 mm (~113 g); poured flower about 82 x 34 mm (~95 g). Confirm your own grams on the RFQ.

Food-Contact Docs and Exclusivity

This pour is food-contact. We do not call RUUIPON an FDA-certified factory. On this job she asked for food-contact material documents before production. Site-wide rule stays: material and test documentation may be available depending on the selected material and destination market (FDA 21 CFR 177.2600 / LFGB sections 30/31 paths). Buyer hub: food-grade silicone molds.

She also wanted the flowers exclusive. Custom cavity CAD for a paid design is not reused as a stock SKU for someone else — same line we already use on quotes. If you need that in writing, ask on the RFQ.

Packing on this PO: film per mold, then her three designs as a set. She handled branded outer boxes. Freight was quoted to Florida with tracking — confirm Incoterms on your own RFQ.

Complete RFQs still get a reply in about 24 hours. Prototypes are commonly 3–7 business days after CAD lock — complexity can move that. Quote path: custom silicone mold quote.

What Other Brands Should Copy

  1. Name the pour (marshmallow vs gummy scrape) before you pick Shore.
  2. If you only have photos, say so — CAD is the ~$110 path when it applies.
  3. Sample two Shore bands when the piece is fragile.
  4. Ask for the document pack that matches your destination — not a “certified factory” slogan.
  5. Start at a qty you can actually inspect (here: 100 per design), then reorder.

FAQ

Is Shore A 5–10 for every marshmallow mold?
It was the band we sampled on Linda’s flowers. Your undercuts and sugar formula can land elsewhere — confirm on the sample pour.

Do you always give unlimited free CAD changes?
On this drawing-deposit job we revised until she approved the 3D. Other jobs can bill extra after a locked drawing. Ask on the quote.

Is 300 pieces the MOQ?
No. Public MOQ is 50 molds per design. Her trial was 100 per design.

Will you publish my brand name and street address?
This post uses the first name and US city from the brief we were asked to publish. Send a new RFQ without assuming we will name you.
